Emily is a Certified Clinical Somatic Educator and practitioner of Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies.

Somatic Movement Education
Emily is a Certified Clinical Somatic Educator (CCSE), having completed the first Clinical Somatic Education training program to be offered in Australia. She offers Clinical Somatic Sessions, as well as teaches private and group somatic movement classes.

Emily was drawn to Somatic Movement Education in the tradition of Thomas Hanna, experiencing first-hand the profound and empowering benefits that this system of neuromuscular re-education offers.  She trained with Martha Peterson and the Essential Somatics program (USA).

 

Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies
Emily enjoys supporting people of all ages and life stages through shiatsu, from newborns to the elderly.

Her specialist and advanced training includes:

  • Developmental Shiatsu for Babies with Karin Kalbantner-Wernicke (Germany)
  • Shonishin (non-invasive paediatric acupuncture) with Thomas Wernicke (Germany)
  • Maternity shiatsu care with Suzanne Yates (UK)

She also has post-graduate training in Manaka style Japanese needle therapy.

Emily has collaborated on the new Developmental Concept online course and her interview with Karin Kalbantner-Wernicke ‘fall down seven times, get up eight’ was published in the Spring 2020 Pointers edition.

 

Other
Emily also draws on her training through the Gawler Foundation meditation teaching in Mindfulness-based Stillness Meditation and Guided Imagery and Contemplation. She is also a qualified Hatha Yoga Teacher.
